I downloaded and tried this version of FireFox and it is superior to anything I have tried.
I just ran tar xzvf firefox-0.9.1-i686-pc-javadesktopsystem2.tar.gz
It created a directory called firefox. So, I suggest you open it in the /home/username of your directory.
I clicked on the desktop and selected "New Launcher".
I browsed to the firefox directory and selected firefox as the command.
I added the heading.
Next I clicked on the icon and browsed again to home and firefox and found the sub directory "icons". I chose the large icon and clicked ok.
Then I dragged the icon to my panel.
Next, I selected Tools from the menu bar and added a couple of themes.
The user experience is excellent.
It works very nice.
As far as the plugins go, I became root and created symbolic links from /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins to the home/username/firefox/plugins directory.
(Don't try to link from the symbolic links).
You will also need to create a symbolic link from /usr/X11R6/lib/Acrobat5/Browsers/Intellinux/nppdf.so to your directory
and then one from /usr/lib/Realplayer8/rpnp.so
and /usr/lib/Realplayer8/raclass.zip
Your last symbolic link should be made from:
/usr/java/j2re1.4.2_04/plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32/libjavap lugin_oji.so
I suggest you install Midnight Commander to navigate your command line:
